Our Curriculum

At Chabad Hebrew School of Collingwood, our curriculum is designed to provide children with a strong foundation in Jewish knowledge, values, and traditions through engaging, hands-on learning. Each lesson is interactive, meaningful, and age-appropriate, helping students build a lifelong connection to their Jewish heritage.

Tefillah – Prayer

Prayer offers children an opportunity to connect with G‑d and reflect on the values that guide everyday life. Students become familiar with the structure and meaning of the prayers while learning the importance of Tzedakah (charity) and kindness. Each Hebrew School day begins with Tefillah and the giving of Tzedakah, helping to establish positive Jewish habits from an early age.

Hebrew Reading

Learning to read Hebrew opens the door to Jewish life and tradition. Through a fun and encouraging approach, students develop confidence in reading Hebrew, allowing them to participate meaningfully in prayers, connect with the Torah in its original language, and strengthen their Jewish identity.

Jewish Holidays

Every Jewish holiday tells a unique story and carries timeless lessons and traditions. Throughout the year, students explore the meaning behind each holiday through stories, songs, crafts, games, and hands-on activities. By experiencing the holidays in creative and meaningful ways, children develop a deeper appreciation for Jewish traditions and look forward to celebrating them at home and in their community.

Torah & Jewish History

The story of the Jewish people is our shared story. Students journey through the Torah, meeting inspiring figures such as Abraham and Sarah, Moses and Miriam, and many others who shaped our history. Through interactive lessons, discussions, and activities, children discover how these stories continue to inspire their own lives and how they play an important role in the ongoing story of the Jewish people.

Learning That Comes to Life

Our classes are designed to be engaging, creative, and interactive. Whether through art, music, games, storytelling, or group projects, every lesson encourages children to participate, ask questions, and discover Judaism in a meaningful way.

Throughout the year, our regular curriculum pauses to focus on upcoming holidays, allowing students to fully experience their traditions, customs, and values through exciting, hands-on learning.

Building Jewish Pride

Our goal is more than simply teaching information—we strive to inspire children to live Jewish values with confidence and joy. By learning about Torah, mitzvot, prayer, Hebrew, and Jewish traditions, students develop practical skills, meaningful connections, and a lasting sense of pride in their Jewish identity.
